Welcome back to Rays on the Run! Today, we’re thrilled to share our journey to the mystical depths of Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. Join us as we dive into this underground wonderland with our three young kids—Wyatt, Wesley, and Daisy—and discover the awe-inspiring beauty hidden beneath the earth’s surface.

If this is your first time watching one of our videos, this adventure is part of our cross-country road trip that we took with my parents in their 100% electric transit van. It was quite an adventure! Be sure to check out our other videos along this trip to see the full extent of our travels and what it’s like to journey completely electric—no gas! Do you have questions about traveling by electric car or van? Leave your questions in the comments.

Once we arrived at Carlsbad Caverns, towering limestone formations greeted us as we descended into the depths of the caverns. It felt incredible, and a little spooky, to take the elevator down more than 50 flights below the earth’s surface.

Inside the caverns, we were met with a breathtaking display of stalactites and stalagmites, formed over millions of years by the slow drip of mineral-laden water. Every turn revealed a new wonder, really captivating the imaginations of all three of our kids.

After our underground adventure, we spent time exploring the visitor center, where the kids eagerly awaited their Junior Ranger passport stamp and learned about the geology and history of Carlsbad Caverns. It was a fun and educational experience that sparked their curiosity and sense of wonder.
