Hey, fellow adventurers! Welcome to Rays on the Run, where we bring you exciting family travel vlogs and share our favorite destinations and activities for kids! In today’s video, we take you along on our favorite places near Asheville: breathtaking Lake Lure, North Carolina.
Lake Lure is just about 45 minutes from Asheville and it’s one of our top spots for summer. The best part about Lake Lure is the public beach, where for a few bucks you get access to the very family friendly beach, plus a little water parks and some really neat slides that my boys pretty much hang out on the whole day. The second best part about Lake Lure, according to my kids, is the ice cream shop directly across the street from the beach!
You can also rent kayaks, canoes, and even a pontoon boat for extra family fun. We did try the canoes once, but it’s wasn’t exactly the best time for Wesley!
If you’re here for the weekend, be sure to stop in Chimney Rock Village which is full of really cute shops, restaurants, mini golf, a mini carnival, and – another must see- is the Chimney Rock itself! You can take an elevator up or you can brave the stairs – although I wouldn’t recommend with any kids under 4 unless they’re really into stair climbing. We did the stair climb and boy my legs were hurting by the time we reached the top!
If you’re planning a family trip or looking for exciting activities around Asheville, NC, Lake Lure should definitely be on your list!
